What we need

The ideal article would be around 500 words and have an image, but it really depends on the subject and it could be shorter or longer, and it could have as many images as you need. You must have written the text yourself and it must be original. Do not copy and paste from elsewhere, such as a press release, and articles that you have already posted on other websites aren’t of interest. The image(s) included must be free to use, either taken yourself, public domain, free use with photo credit. Positive articles are preferable to negative ones and are much more interesting, so if you have found a great product, hidden feature, tip and so on, that would be ideal.

Tips for writers

Coming up with ideas for articles is probably the hardest task facing a writer. What should you write about? Here is a list of iPhone/iPad apps that are new or updated this week, or if you are an Android user, check out the new/updated Android apps. You could pick an interesting app that's new and write about it, or you could see what has changed in an existing app that has been updated and create a step-by-step guide to using the new features. Apps are updated often and most people don't realise that there are new features.

Screen shots are really useful in an article, but how do you take them? On an iPhone or iPad, press the home button at the bottom and tap the power/sleep button on the top. This saves a screenshot to the Camera Roll. Upload it to Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, Dropbox or any similar online storage. Then you can download it onto your computer, email it, share it, edit it, and so on. With an Android phone or tablet, press the power and home buttons together or power and volume down buttons. This saves the screenshot to the gallery. You can then upload it to online storage, sync it with your computer and so on.
