Have you got a minute? Of course you have, but what can you do in just 60 seconds? Here are five fantastic free apps for your Android phone that take up just one minute of your time.

1 minute Micro Training

Price: Free | By: Micro Corp Group AB | Size: 64 MB | Android: 4.1 and up

There is really no excuse for not getting any exercise and we all have at least one minute in a day that we can dedicate to getting fitter and stronger. This app shows you exercises that can be performed in a minute. That's my kind of exercise routine!

1 minute Micro Training aims to get you fit with one-minute training sessions you can do anywhere anytime, but the app got off to a bad start by requiring me to sign in with Facebook or via email and Facebook sign-up didn't work. I got in with email though.

Once signed in, the home screen appears and you can choose your starting fitness level. The lowest is very easy and almost everyone, no matter how unfit they are, can manage it. There are steps, squats, pushing off a wall and lunges. There is a video showing an office worker doing it and animations too.

Levels 2 and 3 raise the bar a little and harder exercises are introduced with each new level, but the total time remains at one minute. Level 4, 5 and 6 require a small payment of £0.68 (around $0.99) to access.

There are videos and animations showing exactly how to perform the exercises and while you do them a counter counts down from 60 seconds to zero while music plays.

There is obviously a limit to what you can achieve with 60 seconds of exercise, but like the office worker in the video, if you are getting cramps half way through the day from sitting hunched over a computer, getting up from your desk and doing these exercises in your breaks could help.

I like this app a lot. It is simple and useful.

50 1-Minute Meditations

Price: Free | By: Robin Rice | Size: 18 MB | Android: 4.0 and up

If you are going to meditate you should do it for longer than one minute, however, 50 1-Minute Meditations is still useful for those moments of frustration when you just want to smash something.

When you are about to explode because of something that has happened or something someone has done, take a deep breath and listen to Robin Rice's voice soothing your temper and reducing your stress level and blood pressure.

There is a mediation of the day on the home screen, but all the meditations can be listed by opening the menu at the side. They are organised into six categories: Empowerment, Nature, Relax, healing, Spirituality and Extras.

This app is free with no ads and is recommended for de-stressing when you are about to reach boiling point.

Math 1 minute addition and subtraction practice

Price: Free | By: Dani K. | Size: 3.5 MB | Android 1.6 and up

Math 1 minute addition and subtraction practice could be used by children to improve their mental arithmetic ability or it could be used by adults as a brain training app to keep your mind active. If you don't practice, your mental skills will become rusty.

There are five different types of addition and subtraction categories and sometimes you are given the question and asked to select the right answer, and sometimes you are given the answer and must select the right question.

As you perform these simple maths operations a counter is ticking down from one minute and you must complete as many as you can. The app lets you choose the difficulty level and it tracks your achievements.

The developer has another app called Math 1 minute multiplication and division practice. Get both, they are free.

1 Pic 1 Word - 1 Minute

Price: Free | By: Outsbook | Size: 2.8 MB | Android: 4.0 and up

1 Pic 1 Word - 1 Minute is a simple game in which an image is displayed on the screen and you must guess the word.

It is harder than it looks and in the screenshot for example, you immediately think 'dog' but the four circles under the image indicate that it is a four letter word. You can only make the word from the letters provided and there is no D. I'll leave it to you to work out what the word is.

You get one minute in which to guess the word and enter it and a timer counts down at the top of the screen. If you are really stuck and there are only seconds left, there is a cheat button that puts a letter in for you, but it costs coins.

This is a game you can play for one minute and continue later when you have another spare minute. However, once you start, it is hard to stop and you might still be playing 30 minutes later.

A great game that is recommended.

1 Minute Wiki

Price: Free | By: TechyMagna | Size: 11 MB | Android 4.4 and up

1 Minute Wiki aims to convert all of Wikipedia's pages to one minute summaries. With over 5 million pages, it is a mammoth task that could take a very long time.

Each summary is presented as a video, although the ones I tried were a video clip of a static image along with a voice over reading out the Wikipedia page summary in one minute.

It is a bit of an odd way to do this, but my guess is that the unlimited storage of YouTube was a deciding factor and the app appears to be just a front end for accessing the YouTube channel.

A lot of the videos I saw were mini biographies of famous people, although there were a few other topics as well. The sound had a strange echo to it that spoilt it a bit.

These one minute summaries are OK, but it could be better.
