Macs and malware

You often hear that Apple Macs don't get viruses. This leads people to believe that Macs don't need security because they are invulnerable to everything. That's not true.

A flu jab means you won't get flu, but you could catch a thousand other nasty bugs. It's the same with the Mac and being immune from viruses does not make it immune from everything else.

I discuss this topic and the recent ransomware attack in Macs under attack from growing malware threat

Have you had problems with adware, spyware, unwanted ads and pop-ups, and other irritations?

Are there any good security programs for the Mac. If antivirus is not needed, what do I use for security? (Actually, it's not me that needs it, I'm asking for a friend.)

Jimmy, many Windows security companies are getting into Mac security and the usual suspects have antivirus apps you can download.

Check out AVG, Avast, Avira, Kaspersky and others.
