The two most important Twitter settings you need to know about

Twitter is changing. It is evolving. But is it changing and evolving in the right direction? Some say no and there are a couple of Twitter settings that you need to know about. They affect how your Twitter feed looks and what content is displayed.

Click your account picture and then click Settings on the menu. Look for these settings:

The first is concerned with videos in your news feed. I find it irritating when videos automatically start playing, especially when I am not interested in them. I like to choose what I watch and when I watch it. Clear the tick box.

The second item is the curated timeline. Twitter now chooses what you see based on what it thinks is important. This might mean that you miss something you think is important because Twitter didn't think it was important and didn't show it.

I prefer to see tweets in chronological order. Of course, this might mean that I miss posts because they occurred when I was offline and now they are so far down the feed that I'll never get to them. However, I do like to see what is happening right now rather than what happened hours ago and Twitter has pushed it to the top of my feed because it thinks it is important. Clear that tick box.
