Where is Windows Experience index in Windows 8?

I bought a new computer recently and I wanted to compare its performance to my old computer and see exactly how much better it was. I ran the Windows Experience Index in the Control Panel on my old Windows 7 PC (upgraded from Vista a long time ago), but then I couldn't find where this facility has moved to in Windows 8. How do I get to it? It doesn't seem to be in the Control Panel or on the Start screen.

  • Microsoft removed it from Windows 8 and it is no longer available. Apparently hardly anyone ever used it. There is a solution though and ChrisPC Win Experience Index is one way to access this information on Windows 8.1. Run it on both computers.
  • There is another utility to calculate the Windows Experience Index called Winaero WEI Tool. The author says he's looked at the ChrisPC tool and his is better. Well he would say that wouldn't he! It is worth a look and it's free, so try it and see. I wonder if ChrisPC and Winaero produce the same scores?
