Mac hints and tipsTurn screen corners into hotspotsWould you like to turn the corners of the screen into hotspots that performed some function, such as accessing Epose, starting the screen saver, or turning off the screen? It's easy and it takes less than a minute to set up. Go to the Apple menu in the top left corner of the screen and select System Preferences. Click Expose and Spaces in the Personal section and then select the Espose tab. There is a pop-up menu of actions for each of the four corners of the screen. You don't need to configure all of them and you can just use one, two or three or all four. A good action to choose if you use a MacBook is Sleep Display. Set it to the upper right corner and when you push the mouse up there the screen immediately blacks out, saving the battery power. As soon as you move the mouse, the screen comes back on. It's just one technique for extending the life of the battery. It's useful on desktop Mac too because it's environmentally friendly and reduces carbon emissions because you are using less electricity.
